Kauai part 1

Madelyn traveled far better than we expected. She nursed herself to sleep shortly after takeoff and we did not here a peep from her until 3 hours later. When she woke up she found herself at the center of attention in the back the plane, we were in the last row next to the bathrooms with a few other families. She made lots of faces and entertained everyone who was waiting their turn.

Our first night was rough, getting in late and jet lag took it's toll, we'll try to forget about the largely sleepless first night (Parents could be heard mumbling "Remind me again why we choose to do this!?) Needless to say Mom was ecstatic to see the sun rise the next morning and beat me out the door for a walk. For once it was me sleeping in and Mom on the early morning walk. Our condo is about a 100 yards walk from Poipu beach, it's one of those beaches that you dream about, soft golden sand, palm trees and a gentle surf.

Madelyn is getting to like her walks more and more. We know this because when I put on the Bjorn the other day and then walked out of the room without putting her in it, she threw a fit. We tried this a few more times today and sure enough she moaned, so we tossed her in and off to the beach we went. We have driven all over the south and west end of the island in the past few days and we are enjoying every moment of our stay.
